The ELITE13 kicked off on Wednesday 6/19/2024 at Squam Lake. One of the hottest days of the year, and on record apparently for June, but the bass didn’t seem to care all that much. Jason Girard & Mike Teidemann found ’em. With 14.45 lbs of green fish, they take the early TOY lead. With their sunglasses on, they stalked female bass basking in the sun in their birthday suits and capitalized on all their big bites, including a nice 4.45 lb largie anchoring the sack! Congrats, gents! Just look at these good lookin’ photogenic young lads…..
Coming in 2nd place, and kickin’ most of the fields’ asses in the elite’s only tiller rig (a nicely upgraded LUND), was the team of Derrick Hart & George Psichopaidas with a nice bag weighing 11.55, anchored by a couple of 4 lb hawgs. Great start to the elites for these strapping young gents. Must’ve been the mustache that lured those fish to bite!
Rounding out the top 3, and apparently camera shy, was the team of Anthony Scianna & Steve Roy. These guys are making a name for themselves with BIG FISH, as evident from EVERY late season Cup or Championship event, and now today with the big fish of the tournament weighing just shy of 5 lbs (4.97 to be exact). As the only other team with double digits on a very tough big fish day, they climbed that 10 lb hill just enough to manage great points and a great payday!
On a personal note, I’d like to apologize to everyone for my behavior during weigh-in. I was obviously incredibly frustrated with the scale breaking and having to divert to a handheld backup scale, but it gives me no excuse to not create a welcoming and fun atmosphere for weigh-in. I do appreciate everyone’s understanding of the situation, so thank you for continuing to be the best group of guys around! Unfortunately I need to send the scale back to PTS for repairs/re-calibration but, FORTUNATELY, it should be back before our OPEN event on Winni July 19th.
